Andres Bolkenbaas (1973) started photographing aircraft in 2006 using an Olympus E-300 D-SLR camera and a simple kitlens (Zuiko Digital 40-150mm). One year later this lens was replaced by a professional ZD 50-200mm F/2.8-3.5 ED lens, as a first step to increase quality. Later on the E-300 body was replaced by two Olympus E-3 body's, and an additional ZD 12-60 F/2.8 SWD lens.
In 2011 Andres decided it was time for a step to the next level, and all Olympus gear had to make place for a Canon 5DmkII and 100-400mm L IS USM lens.
At the end of that year he founded the "Dutch Aviation Photographers Group" or "DAPG" at Facebook, together with Thijs Tromp of TT-F. When starting, the group had about 20 members, but it surprisingly started to grow rapidly and within a week the total of members was tripled. Therefor Léander Swinkels of World of PhotoArt Photography has been invited to become an additional administrator of DAPG. In October 2013 DAPG has over 1,880 members and it's still growing.
